Womens Asics Gel Kayano 16′s.. The Verdict!
The Womens Asics Gel Kayanos have always been my first choice for my running (both in marathons and ironman’s) and most of my friends also agree, of the 6 of us who run 5 of us can always be seen in our Kayanos. They are designed for women who have slightly flat feet and tend to ‘roll in’ as their foot lands on the ground. For me they feel like a comfortable runner that provides me good support and I find my foot feels stable when running on the dirt training tracks we sometimes run on.
I think the asymmetrical lacing pattern looks pretty funky and to my own slight surprise a more comfortable fit than normal style lacing. Comparing them to my old pair of 15’s the 16’s are a touch lighter. Reading up on it on Asics’ website this turns out to be true.
I feel that this particular model of Womens Asics Gel Kayanos is overall pretty good, I think they deserve a big tick and for me personally, I am happy with them have no hesitation about recommending them to my friends who I train with. They even have extra cushioning in the heel part of the shoe which should help us with softening the impact when we our foot lands on the ground.
Overall, I rate the 16’s pretty well, they feel nice and comfy. I think they provide good heel support as well as a respectable amount of arch support (although I still wear my orthotics with them – they fit in the 16’s fine). They are nice and light to run in, especially for longer distance like half marathon and over. Oh and I think they look pretty funky and cute! J
If you are looking for a good pair of reliable runners that will see you through your next big run or you want a pair of shoes that will see out the triathlon season and have you feeling strong and fast on the run leg, then I definitely think the Womens Asics Gel Kayano 16s are the way to go. Sure they are not the cheapest runner on the market but I think when it comes to shoes quality and performance it really is a case of ‘you get what you pay for.’

P.S I have listed some of the more techinical findings i uncovered from my additional research off the running track to add to my own personal findings from getting out on the road and testing the 16′s firsthand.
Enjoy
Feature and Benefits:
Asics’ Impact Guidance System – the design of the sole and componentry to optimize and maximize your foots natural gait from the heel strike right through to the toe off.
The ‘Guidance Line’ – these are flex grooves that run vertical along the shoe helping to enhance gait efficiency, meaning you should experience less fatigue on your run.
‘ComforDRY Sockliner’ – helping to provide greater cushioning performance and at the same time keep the inside of the shoe cooler and drier leading to a healthier inner environment.
